Meet the Take the Lead Team
At Take the Lead QT, we are more than just dog walkers - we’re dedicated caregivers, animal lovers, and trusted companions for your pups. Our team is passionate about providing the best possible care, ensuring your furry friends feel safe, happy, and loved while you're busy.
Emma - Founder & Lead Dog Carer
Hi, I’m Emma, the founder of Take the Lead QT!
My journey with dog care started years ago when I realised how much I loved looking after Queenstown’s four-legged residents. In early 2021, I took the leap and officially launched Take the Lead QT, and I haven’t looked back since! What started as a passion has grown into a thriving dog care service, looking after more than 90 dogs every week.
Growing up on a farm, I was always surrounded by animals, which helped shape my deep understanding of their needs, behaviours, and personalities. I am Pet First Aid certified and continually seek to expand my knowledge of training techniques to adapt to each dog's unique requirements. My goal is to build lasting relationships with both you and your pets, making Take the Lead QT one big fluffy family!
Olivia – Dog Care Specialist
Olivia, or Liv, joined Take the Lead QT in April 2022 and quickly became an essential part of our team. With a natural ability to bond with dogs, she brings warmth, energy, and expertise to every walk and adventure.
Before moving to New Zealand, Olivia worked in doggy daycares in Australia, giving her extensive experience in handling different breeds, personalities, and behaviours. While she previously stepped into a management role at Take the Lead, she now works casually and primarily offers overnight care - perfect for those late-night pup cuddles and cosy companionship.
She loves capturing your dog’s best moments - whether it’s a joyful run through the hills or a peaceful moment in the sun - and she ensures that their days are filled with fun, enrichment, and companionship.
Like the rest of our team, Olivia is fully Pet First Aid trained, giving you peace of mind that your pet is always in safe hands.
Roxy - Dog Walker
We welcomed Roxy to the Take the Lead QT team in May 2024. She is a dedicated and passionate professional dog walker with previous experience at Mad Dogs & Englishmen Australia. Hailing from the countryside of rural England, Roxy’s love for animals and the great outdoors has been ingrained in her from a young age.
Growing up in a family deeply involved in gun dog training, Roxy was surrounded by a lively pack that currently includes six working Labrador Retrievers, one working Cocker Spaniel, and two Jack Russel Terriers. Her journey with dogs began early, and at the age of 14, she successfully trained her first Labrador and competed in trials for the Lincolnshire Gun Dog Society.
With a wealth of hands-on experience and an innate understanding of canine behaviour, Roxy brings both expertise and compassion to her role. She is also fully Pet First Aid trained. Whether leading a spirited pack on a countryside adventure or providing personalised care for individual pets, Roxy’s dedication ensures a joyful and safe experience for every dog in her care.
At Take the Lead QT, we know that your pets are more than just dogs - they’re family. That’s why our team is committed to providing professional, loving, and flexible dog care services throughout the Queenstown-Lakes District. Whether your pup needs a daily walk, extra playtime, or overnight care, we’re here to help.
Come meet the Take the Lead team and let us take care of your pup like they’re our own!
